The Armadale City Concert Band was founded in 1987as a project of the Armadale Rotary Club under President Charlie Girbino. It is a band where musicians can perform together and caters for the musician who is serious about their performance standard. Armadale City Concert Band aims to perform music which is musically challenging to its members and entertaining for its audience. Members range in age from fifteen to sixty plus.
In 2007 we won the Concert Band A Division in the WABA Entertainment Contest and in 2008, 2009 and 2010 won the Concert Band B Division of the WABA State Eisteddfod. In 2011 we were runner up in the Open A Division Competition. Previous championship wins had been in 1991, 1992, 1995, 1998 and 2002. We have won our section with every entry except for one year, thus showing that we maintain a high standard of performance. Members have won the prestigious Ray Larner Cup for most outstanding concert band instrumentalist in the WABA Championships. Winners have been Co-principal Clarinet, Tim Neil, (1998), Peter Edwards (piccolo) 2001, and Catherine Lane (French Horn) in 2002. In 1991 the band competed in a Band Spectacular, winning Division A. The band has had as its Musical Director Donald Cook since the inception of the band.
